The healing power of music therapy
Our team of highly trained and qualified board-certified music therapists treat patients throughout the hospital including (but not limited to): acute rehabilitation, labor and delivery, Infusion Center, post-operative, mental health, and Healthy Development Services. Music therapists work together with other therapists as part of the interdisciplinary team at Palomar Health.
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. (American Music Therapy Association 2013).
Interventions used by music therapists include relaxation techniques, patterned sensory enhancement, rhythmic auditory stimulation, word retrieval via therapeutic singing, song-writing, improvisation, group drumming, and more.
The music therapy program at Palomar Health began in 2012. Since then it continues to grow and expand.
